Ingredients
Scale
4 (6 oz) salmon fillets, skin removed
1 tablespoon olive oil
1 teaspoon paprika
1 teaspoon garlic powder
1 teaspoon onion powder
1 teaspoon dried oregano
1 teaspoon dried thyme
1/2 teaspoon cayenne pepper (adjust to heat preference)
1/2 teaspoon black pepper
1/2 teaspoon salt
For the Sauce: 1/2 cup plain Greek yogurt
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
1 tablespoon fresh dill, chopped
1 teaspoon Dijon mustard
Salt and pepper to taste
Instructions
Combine all spice blend ingredients (paprika through salt) in a small bowl. Mix well.
Pat the salmon fillets dry with paper towels. Brush the tops and sides lightly with olive oil.
Generously coat all sides of the salmon fillets with the prepared blackened seasoning blend, pressing it gently into the fish.
Heat a heavy, oven-safe skillet (cast iron works best) over medium-high heat until very hot.
Carefully place the seasoned salmon fillets presentation-side down in the hot, dry skillet. Sear for 3 to 4 minutes without moving them until a dark crust forms.
Flip the fillets. Transfer the skillet immediately to a preheated oven at 400 degrees Fahrenheit (200 degrees Celsius).
Bake for 5 to 8 minutes, depending on fillet thickness, until the salmon is cooked through and flakes easily with a fork.
While the salmon bakes, prepare the sauce: Whisk together the Greek yogurt, lemon juice, dill, and Dijon mustard in a small bowl. Season with salt and pepper.
Remove the salmon from the oven. Serve immediately with the creamy lemon-dill sauce on the side or drizzled over top.
Notes
For a lower-fat option, you can bake the salmon entirely at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 12 to 15 minutes instead of searing first.
If you prefer an air fryer method, cook at 380 degrees Fahrenheit for 8 to 10 minutes.
Use fresh herbs for the sauce for the best flavor.
