Create a delightful caramelized peach crumble, a comforting baked dessert that highlights the natural sweetness of summer peaches. Peaches are gently caramelized before being topped with a simple crumble and baked to golden perfection.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 6 ripe peaches, peeled, pitted, and sliced
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup (1 stick) cold unsalted butter, cut into cubes

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large bowl, gently toss the sliced peaches with granulated sugar, lemon juice, cinnamon, nutmeg, and salt. Let them sit for about 10 minutes to start caramelizing.
  3. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon, and salt for the crumble topping.
  4. Add the cold butter cubes to the flour mixture. Use your fingers or a pastry blender to cut the butter into the dry ingredients until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs, with some pea-sized pieces of butter remaining.
  5. Pour the caramelized peaches into an 8×8 inch baking dish.
  6. Evenly sprinkle the crumble topping over the peaches.
  7. Bake for 35-45 minutes, or until the topping is golden brown and the peach filling is bubbly.
  8. Let it cool for at least 10 minutes before serving. Enjoy warm, perhaps with a scoop of vanilla ice cream!

Notes

  • For an extra nutty flavor, add 1/2 cup of chopped pecans or walnuts to the crumble topping.
  • If your peaches aren’t very sweet, you can add an extra tablespoon of sugar to the peach mixture.
  • Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for a classic pairing.
