Ingredients

Scale
  • 1.5 pounds ground turkey
  • 1 chipotle pepper in adobo sauce, minced
  • 1 teaspoon adobo sauce
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon onion powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 4 burger buns
  • 1 ripe avocado, mashed
  • 1 tablespoon lime juice
  • 1/4 cup chopped cilantro
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • Optional toppings: lettuce, tomato, red onion, extra guacamole

Instructions

  1. In a bowl, combine ground turkey, minced chipotle pepper, adobo sauce, chili powder, smoked paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper. Mix gently until just combined.
  2. Divide the turkey mixture into 4 equal portions and form into patties.
  3. Preheat your grill to medium-high heat.
  4. Grill the turkey burgers for 5-7 minutes per side, or until cooked through and internal temperature reaches 165°F (74°C).
  5. While the burgers are grilling, prepare the guacamole by mashing the avocado with lime juice, chopped cilantro, and salt.
  6. Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill if desired.
  7. Assemble the burgers by placing a patty on the bottom bun, topping with guacamole, and adding any other desired toppings.
  8. Place the top bun on the burger.

Notes

  • For extra smoky flavor, you can grill the avocado halves before mashing.
  • Adjust the amount of chipotle pepper to control the spice level.
  • Ensure the turkey is not overmixed to keep the burgers tender.
