Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (12.4 ounce) package refrigerated cinnamon rolls with icing
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Lightly grease a 9×13 inch baking dish.
  2. Open the cinnamon roll package. Place the rolls into the prepared baking dish, cutting each roll in half so they fit better. Do not separate the icing packets yet.
  3. In a medium bowl, whisk together the eggs, milk, and vanilla extract until well combined.
  4. Pour the egg mixture evenly over the cinnamon rolls in the baking dish.
  5. In a small bowl, mix the granulated sugar and ground cinnamon. Sprinkle this mixture over the top of the rolls.
  6. Cover the dish tightly with plastic wrap. Refrigerate for at least 4 hours, or preferably overnight.
  7. When ready to bake, preheat your oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit. Remove the plastic wrap.
  8. Bake for 30 to 35 minutes, or until the casserole is puffed and golden brown.
  9. Remove from the oven and let it cool for 5 minutes.
  10. Open the icing packets that came with the rolls and drizzle the icing over the warm casserole.
  11. Serve your gooey cinnamon breakfast warm.

Notes

  • If you want to use the slow-cooker method for crockpot cinnamon rolls, place the rolls in a lightly greased slow cooker insert. Whisk the custard ingredients and pour over the rolls. Cook on low for 3 to 4 hours or on high for 2 to 3 hours. Drizzle with icing before serving.
  • This recipe uses canned dough, making it a quick 5 ingredient cinnamon casserole base before adding the custard.
  • For a richer flavor, you can add 1/4 cup of chopped pecans or walnuts over the top before baking.
