Prepare these simple, elegant goat cheese rounds baked until warm and drizzled with honey and fresh thyme. They make a perfect sweet and savory appetizer for any gathering.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 8 oz log goat cheese (chèvre)
  • 2 tablespoons honey
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme leaves
  • 1/4 cup chopped pecans or walnuts
  • 1 baguette, sliced into 1/2 inch rounds
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit (190 degrees Celsius). Lightly brush the baguette slices with olive oil.
  2. Arrange the baguette slices on a baking sheet.
  3. Slice the goat cheese log into 8 equal rounds. Place one round of goat cheese on top of each oiled baguette slice.
  4. Bake for 8 to 10 minutes, or until the cheese is soft and slightly warm.
  5. Remove the baking sheet from the oven. Immediately drizzle each cheese round with honey.
  6. Sprinkle the chopped nuts and fresh thyme leaves over the honey.
  7. Serve the baked goat cheese rounds warm immediately.

Notes

  • You can substitute pecans with toasted slivered almonds for a different texture.
  • For a festive touch, add a few dried cranberries on top with the nuts.
  • If you do not have fresh thyme, use a pinch of dried thyme, but add it before baking.
