A rich, moist loaf cake that delivers the dense, gooey texture of a brownie with a decadent hot fudge swirl baked throughout.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 cup (2 sticks) unsalted butter, melted
  • 2 cups granulated sugar
  • 4 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup prepared hot fudge sauce (warmed slightly)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9×5 inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk the melted butter and sugar together until combined.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in the vanilla extract.
  4. In a separate medium bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, salt, and baking powder.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, mixing only until just combined. Do not overmix.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chips.
  7. Pour half of the batter into the prepared loaf pan.
  8. Drizzle half of the warmed hot fudge sauce over the batter.
  9. Top with the remaining batter, then drizzle the remaining hot fudge sauce over the top.
  10. Use a knife or skewer to gently swirl the fudge sauce into the batter a few times.
  11. Bake for 55 to 65 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted near the center comes out with moist crumbs attached, not wet batter.
  12. Let the bread cool in the pan for 15 minutes before inverting it onto a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

  • For an extra fudgy top, you can drizzle extra hot fudge sauce over the loaf once it has cooled slightly.
  • Use high-quality cocoa powder for the best chocolate flavor.
  • If you do not have prepared hot fudge, you can make a simple ganache using 1/2 cup heavy cream and 4 ounces of chopped dark chocolate.
