Make handheld desserts by wrapping spiced peach cobbler filling inside crispy egg roll wrappers and frying them until golden.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 (15 ounce) can peach slices in heavy syrup, drained and chopped
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 24 egg roll wrappers
  • Vegetable oil, for frying
  • For the Sauce: 1/2 cup powdered sugar, 2 tablespoons milk, 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Chop the drained peach slices into small pieces.
  2. In a medium saucepan, combine the chopped peaches, granulated sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring constantly, until the mixture thickens, about 5 to 7 minutes.
  4. Remove the pan from the heat and stir in the butter until melted. Let the filling cool completely.
  5. Lay an egg roll wrapper on a flat surface with a corner pointing toward you. Place about 1 1/2 tablespoons of the cooled peach filling near the bottom corner.
  6. Fold the bottom corner up over the filling. Fold the left and right corners inward toward the center.
  7. Moisten the top edge of the wrapper with a little water. Roll the wrapper tightly away from you until sealed. Repeat with remaining filling and wrappers.
  8. Pour about 2 inches of vegetable oil into a deep pot or Dutch oven. Heat the oil to 350 degrees Fahrenheit.
  9. Carefully place 3 or 4 egg rolls into the hot oil, ensuring not to overcrowd the pot. Fry for 2 to 3 minutes per side, turning occasionally, until they are golden brown and crispy.
  10. Remove the egg rolls with a slotted spoon and place them on a wire rack lined with paper towels to drain excess oil.
  11. To make the sauce, whisk together the powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla extract until smooth.
  12. Serve the warm peach cobbler egg rolls immediately with the vanilla dipping sauce.

Notes

  • For a faster cooling time, spread the peach filling on a plate and place it in the refrigerator for 30 minutes.
  • If you prefer not to fry, you can bake these at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 12 to 15 minutes, brushing them lightly with melted butter before baking.
  • Serve these with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a richer dessert experience.
