Make this creamy, cheesy baked dip that tastes just like your favorite stuffed mushrooms. It is a simple, savory appetizer perfect for parties or game days.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound cremini mushrooms, finely chopped
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 ounces cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1/4 cup sour cream
  • 1/4 cup heavy cream
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley, divided

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375 degrees Fahrenheit. Lightly grease an 8-inch pie dish or small oven-safe skillet.
  2. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat. Add the chopped mushrooms and cook until they release their moisture and brown, about 8 to 10 minutes.
  3. Add the minced garlic to the skillet and cook for 1 minute until fragrant. Remove the skillet from the heat and let the mushroom mixture cool slightly.
  4. In a medium bowl, beat the softened cream cheese until smooth.
  5. Stir in the cooked mushroom and garlic mixture, 1/2 cup of the mozzarella cheese, Parmesan cheese, sour cream, heavy cream, thyme, salt, and pepper. Mix until just combined.
  6. Fold in half of the fresh parsley.
  7. Spread the mixture evenly into your prepared baking dish. Top with the remaining 1/2 cup of mozzarella cheese.
  8. Bake for 20 to 25 minutes, or until the dip is hot throughout and the cheese on top is melted and lightly golden.
  9. Garnish with the remaining fresh parsley before serving hot with crackers or toasted bread.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, sauté 4 ounces of crumbled cooked sausage with the mushrooms.
  • If you prefer a vegetarian dip, omit any meat additions.
  • You can prepare the dip mixture up to 24 hours ahead and keep it covered in the refrigerator before baking.
