This is a simple, creamy tuna pasta salad recipe that works well for quick meals, picnics, or meal preparation.

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 pound short pasta (like rotini or elbow macaroni)
  • 2 cans (5 ounces each) tuna in water, drained
  • 1 cup mayonnaise
  • 1/2 cup celery, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup red onion, finely chopped
  • 1/2 cup sweet pickle relish
  • 2 tablespoons yellow mustard
  • 1 tablespoon white vinegar
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 cup frozen peas, thawed

Instructions

  1. Cook the pasta according to package directions until al dente. Drain the pasta and rinse it under cold water to cool it down quickly. Set aside.
  2. In a large bowl, combine the drained tuna, mayonnaise, chopped celery, chopped red onion, pickle relish, yellow mustard, and white vinegar.
  3. Stir the mixture until all ingredients are well combined and creamy.
  4. Add the cooled pasta, salt, and pepper to the tuna mixture. Gently fold everything together until the pasta is evenly coated.
  5. Stir in the thawed peas.
  6. Cover the bowl and refrigerate for at least 1 hour before serving to allow the flavors to blend.

Notes

  • For a high-protein version, use tuna packed in oil and skip rinsing the pasta.
  • If you prefer less mayonnaise, substitute half of it with plain Greek yogurt.
  • You can add chopped hard-boiled eggs for extra texture and protein.
